How to Install the URL Checker Add-on in Microsoft Outlook

The URL Checker Add-on brings real-time link safety verification directly into your Outlook inbox. Follow this step-by-step guide to install and activate it on your Microsoft Office account.

Requirements

• A Microsoft 365 account (Work or School)
• Outlook Web, Outlook Desktop, or Outlook Mobile (iOS/Android)

Installation from Outlook Web (Recommended)

1. Open Outlook Web: Go to https://outlook.office.com and log in with your Microsoft 365 account.
2. Open any email in your inbox.
3. Click the “…” (More Actions) menu at the top-right of the message, then select 'Get Add-ins'.
4. In the Add-ins Store, use the search bar and type: URL Checker
5. Click on the URL Checker result, then click 'Add'.
6. Once installed, you will see the URL Checker icon in the message action bar or under the “…” menu.

Installation on Outlook Desktop (Windows or macOS)

1. Open the Outlook Desktop app.
2. Go to the Home tab, and click on 'Get Add-ins' (or 'Add-ins' in some versions).
3. Use the search bar to find: URL Checker
4. Click 'Add' and wait for confirmation.
5. The Add-on will appear in the toolbar or in the context menu when viewing emails.

Installation on Outlook Mobile (iOS / Android)

1. Open the Outlook Mobile App on your device.
2. Tap on any email to open it.
3. Tap the “…” (More Options) menu and scroll to the bottom.
4. Tap 'Add-ins', then tap the “+” to open the store.
5. Search for: URL Checker
6. Tap 'Add', and it will be available from the actions menu in your emails.

Permissions & Privacy

The URL Checker Add-on only accesses email metadata and links for analysis. It does not read or store your emails, and all scanning is handled securely via the Email Veritas API.

Test the Add-on

Once installed, open any email with a link, click on the URL Checker icon, and see the results in real time. You’ll get a detailed safety status for each link, including icons and threat classification.
