How to Install the URL Checker Add-on in Google Workspace (Gmail)

The URL Checker Add-on lets you scan email links directly within Gmail on Google Workspace. With real-time threat detection and a simple interface, you can stay protected from phishing, malware, and suspicious links without leaving your inbox.

Requirements

• A Google Workspace account (Admin or User)
• Gmail Web or Gmail Mobile (iOS/Android)
• Admin access required for domain-wide installation

Installation for Individual Users (Gmail Web)

1. Open Gmail in your browser and log in to your Google Workspace account.
2. In the side panel (bottom right), click the “+” icon to open the Google Workspace Marketplace.
3. In the search bar, type: URL Checker
4. Click on the URL Checker Add-on and then click Install.
5. Grant the requested permissions to complete the installation.
6. Once installed, the URL Checker icon will appear in the Gmail side panel.

Domain-Wide Installation (For Admins)

1. Go to the Google Workspace Admin Console: https://admin.google.com
2. Navigate to Apps > Google Workspace Marketplace apps.
3. Click Add app to domain install list.
4. Search for: URL Checker
5. Select the app, click Install, and choose which organizational units (OUs) to deploy to.
6. Accept permissions and complete installation.

Mobile Access (Gmail App on iOS/Android)

Once installed via the web, the URL Checker will also be available through the Gmail mobile app:

1. Open the Gmail app on your iPhone or Android.
2. Open an email and tap the URL Checker icon in the side panel or message actions area.
3. The add-on will extract links and display safety results in real time.

Security & Privacy

The URL Checker Add-on processes only the email metadata and URLs. It does not read your email content or store personal information. Scans are performed securely through the Email Veritas API.
